SYNOPSIS:
This
flick (about a unscrupulous, sensationalist rag that brings about a cruel
tragedy) set a trend of fast-talking, self-important movies based around
newspaper of the 30s. It was remade five years later as Two Against the
World with Humphrey Bogart.
"It
had a budget more than twice that of Little
Caesar, although I got the same $35, 000 salary. It was my biggest
film to date and I will always regard my role as one of the most important
in my career. It fits into my reform-the-world complex."
- Edward G Robinson.
REVIEWS:
"All
the elements to make a hit attraction."
- Variety.
